Welcome to
Prince of Peace Catholic School!

Prince of Peace Catholic School – a member of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston – is located in Taylors, (Greenville) South Carolina.  We first opened our doors in August 2003 and continue to grow each year.  Current enrollment is 169.  For the 2007-08 school year, we will offer classes for Kindergarten to 6th grade students with class sizes capped at 18.  We expect enrollment to increase to 190 in 2008 when we add 7th grade, with limited seats available for enrollment at each grade level.

Prince of Peace Catholic School extends the spiritual mission of Prince of Peace Catholic Church under the direction of our pastor, Fr. Steven Brovey.  Our children attend mass every week, are instructed in all grades daily in the Catholic faith and (in second grade) in the sacraments of Confession and Holy Communion.  We also celebrate our life in the liturgical year with feasts of the saints, processions, rosary, penance services, and visits to our Perpetual Adoration chapel.

We are proud of the achievement of our students in these early years of our school’s existence.  On recent Iowa Tests (Fall 2006), 85% of our students tested above the national average in their Core Total.  65% of our students test above grade level and more than 45% of our students are testing in the top 10 percentile nationally.

Our academic program is college preparatory.  We expect that our students are preparing now for a challenging college preparatory high school program that will take them to college one day.  Such a goal means Prince of Peace will be serious about grammar and writing skills, about mathematics preparation (with high school Algebra I in 8th grade), about foreign language (with Spanish in K through 4, Latin, and high school Spanish I by 8th grade), about science, about history and geography, and about the arts.

Our school thrives on the cooperative relationship between families and school.  Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is an active volunteer and fundraising organization that helped fund our new playground, outdoor classroom, the arts and foreign language, and student activities throughout the year.
